Sergey has over ten years’ experience of representing Russian companies on various types of claim in both commercial and general jurisdiction courts. He specialises primarily in disputes arising out of the law of obligations and representing creditors and debtors in bankruptcy cases.

Track record

Some of Sergey's successful projects include:

  • Representing a general contractor in a dispute with a government customer seeking to recover a penalty for failure to meet the deadlines for building a stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The lawyers handling the case succeeded in proving that the penalty should be reduced by a factor of 95.

  • Representing a general contractor in a series of legal proceedings initiated by a government customer seeking to recover a penalty for failure to meet the deadlines for building electricity grid facilities.

  • Implementing a set of measures to protect a client’s property interests in a lawsuit brought against it for recovery of debt of over RUB 200 m resulting from fraudulent actions committed by a former CEO and persons under their control.

  • Representing a big agricultural company in a series of court proceedings to recover damages for failure to comply with agricultural product storage requirements.

  • Successfully representing a big Russian bank in the bankruptcy of a regional refinery. An amicable settlement favourable to the bank was signed during the bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Successfully representing a big Russian bank in a major regional developer bankruptcy case. The pledged property was sold successfully and the bank’s claims were satisfied as a result of the bankruptcy proceedings.

  • Representing agro-industrial companies in a series of litigations with public authorities over recovery of budget subsidies totalling more than RUB 300 m.
