Polina Tulina


Polina is an associate in our Dispute Resolution group. Her practice concentrates on Russian and international dispute resolution, including international arbitration and cross-border litigation. Polina graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in law from Tomsk State University and obtained a Master’s degree in law from Higher School of Economics (Moscow) with honors.

Track record

Some of Polina’s highlights:

  • Advising a Russian bank on a multi-billion debt recovery matter in various foreign jurisdictions, including Cyprus, Switzerland, the BVI, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
  • Acting for RusHydro in UNCITRAL investment arbitration against the Kyrgyz Republic over the reimbursement of costs in the amount of USD 37 million incurred in connection with the construction of the Upper-Naryn HPPs Cascade in the Kyrgyz Republic.
  • Advising a Russian bank on a debt recovery matter in the amount of USD 100 million from an energy holding in various foreign jurisdictions, including the Netherlands, Cyprus, and Switzerland.
  • Successfully applied for provisional measures, such as the attachment of subsidiaries’ shares and third party's attachment, in support of the LCIA arbitration in favour of a Russian bank.
  • Supported the cross-border legal team (Moscow and London offices), which acted for a Russian bank in LCIA arbitration against a Maltese shipping company in order to recover a debt exceeding USD 200 million. Successfully applied for provisional measures in Malta, such as the attachment of subsidiaries’ shares and garnishee order. Released from attachment over the debtor’s vessels in Turkey imposed by other creditors. Successfully enforced the LCIA award in Malta.
  • Advising heirs on a complex cross-border inheritance matter, involving legislation of the following jurisdictions: Russia, Cyprus, the BVI, Hong Kong, the UK, and the USA.
  • Advised a shareholder of a Russian gold mining company in a potential corporate conflict arising from siphoning off the company’s assets by the management.
  • Successful debt recovery in a total amount of more than RUB 2 billion from a state-funded company in favour of a sports infrastructure concessionary company under a lease agreement.
  • Successful recovery of a debt in the amount of RUB 828 million under the supply contract in favour of a pharmaceutical company.
  • Successful recovery of legal costs from governmental authorities in favour of two Russian companies in a lengthy court dispute over the title to real estate.
  • Successful debt recovery in the amount exceeding RUB 50 million under two supply contracts in favour of a toy manufacturer.
  • Represented a logistics company in a dispute over reimbursement of damages for demurrage of carriages on public railways.
  • Successfully appealed against municipality land use and development rules to cancel the buffer zone status unlawfully assigned over the land plots of a Russian warehousing company.
