Dmitry Malkin is an Associate with the Tax Practice of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (Russia) LLP with a major focus on tax dispute resolution.

Dmitry has extensive experience in supporting clients during desk and field tax audits, pre-litigation appeal procedures, and in representation of clients’ interests before arbitration courts of all instances. Dmitry also assisted clients during pre-investigation audits of the Police authorities and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

Alongside with tax litigation, Dmitry renders tax consultancy services, such as advice on intra-group transactions, and restructuring.

Before joining Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (Russia) LLP Dmitry was an associate with the tax dispute resolution group of EY.

Dmitry’s clients include major international and Russian companies within various industries.

Projects implemented by Dmitry include negotiations with the tax authorities, participation in litigations and legal support, in particular:

  • Successful representation of a major European air carrier in a tax dispute resulting in VAT, profits tax, personal income tax relief, and immunity from the collection of fines and interest (Arbitration Courts of Moscow Area).
  • Participation in the successful resolution of a tax dispute of a major international oil and gas company resulting in withholding tax refund (Arbitration Courts of West-Siberian Area).
  • Successful representation of a subsidiary of an international oil & gas service company involved in the Sakhalin-2 production sharing agreement, in a tax dispute (Arbitration Courts of Far-East Area).
  • Successful resolution of a tax dispute for an international manufacturer of power generating and transmitting machinery resulting in profits tax and VAT relief, as well as immunity from the collection of fines and interest (Arbitration Courts of Moscow Area).
  • Participation in the successful resolution of a tax dispute of an international manufacturer of woodworking equipment resulting in profits tax and VAT relief, immunity from the collection of fines and interest, and avoidance of the initiation of criminal proceedings in connection with the dispute (Arbitration Courts of Moscow Area).
