Associate

Angelika is an Associate on the Dispute Resolution team and is qualified under Russian law. 

Her legal practice focuses on a broad range of commercial disputes relating to insurance, lease and leasing arrangements, loan obligations, legal relations under construction contracts, as well as bankruptcy, real estate and construction matters.

Angelika has successfully represented clients in both commercial and general jurisdiction courts, including the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. She also supports disputes heard by tribunals and arbitration institutions and on a variety of cross-border and multi-jurisdictional mandates.

Some of Angelika’s recent projects:

  • Acted for IMC Montan, an international consulting group in the geological, mining and mineral processing sector, in a dispute over recovery of debt and penalty from Nornickel, under a consultancy agreement for preparing a feasibility study on integrated development of a mine.

  • Represented ITE Expo International in a complex dispute over its rent rocketing almost 16-fold to RUB 2.5 bn on the basis of a literal interpretation of the contract.

  • Represented Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in the bankruptcy proceedings of its debtor, a big pharmaceutical company.

  • Represented Teva Pharmaceutical Industries in a dispute with a major Russian insurer over recovery of insurance compensation.

  • Represented Rusagro Group LLC (a managing entity within the Rusagro Group) in a dispute over recovery of over RUB 1 bn in damages for the client.

  • Representing Volga-Sport in a complex, multi-stage dispute arising from failure by the grantor (a Russian constituent entity) to meet its obligations to reimburse the concessionaire (our client) for costs incurred in constructing the region’s biggest sports infrastructure facility under a concession agreement.

  • Acted for Raiffeisen-Leasing in litigation against a bad-faith, bankrupt lessee over recovery of unjust enrichment resulting from early termination of leasing contracts.

  • Successfully represented a number of leasing companies in various disputes over leasing operations. Acted for clients in disputes over recovery of unjust enrichment in the form of the purchase value, recovery of late lease payments and repossession of property. These cases involved successful application of positive experience already accumulated and a profound knowledge of leasing laws and judicial practice.

  • Represented a big car manufacturer in a number of disputes with its dealers undergoing bankruptcy procedures and their clients.

  • Represented a global leader in oilfield services in a litigation over damages in favour of Lukoil under an oil well construction contract. We were successful in the most challenging task of proving absence of guilt, there being no cause-and-effect link between the Client’s actions and the delay in performance of the contractor’s work (its obligation).

  • Acted for Alfa Laval in a complex dispute over construction contract, insurance, supply and tort matters. The dispute was successfully settled in the ICAC under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia.

  • Acted for Baker Hughes in a series of disputes against a major global oilfield services company. We were successful in the most challenging task of proving absence of guilt, there being no cause-and-effect link between the Client’s actions and the delay in performance of the contractor’s work (its obligation). The dispute was settled amicably in favour of our Client.

  • Acted for OBI in a dispute with a bad faith landlord that sought termination of the lease with the Client’s biggest store globally. This complex dispute spanned several regions of Russia.

  • Provided legal support for Jones Lang LaSalle in a number of contractual disputes. Through several litigations, we settled a number of the most challenging issues relating to interpretation of contractual terms, successfully argued that a success fee could be used in various business areas, etc.

  • Provided comprehensive legal support to Man Financial Services in disputes with lessees failing to return leased items.

  • Represented Mars in an insurance dispute that arose through the fault of a company associate.

  • Advised a Russian company in corporate litigation resulting from the company’s assets having been stripped by a fraudulent manager.
