Goltsblat BLP Advises on Sale of Tyumen Plywood Plant to SVEZA


Goltsblat BLP, the Russian practice of Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), advised the shareholder of Tymensky Fanerny Zavod (Tyumen Plywood Plant), the top plywood producer in Russia’s Western Siberia, on sale of its 100% stake to SVEZA, a global leader on the birch plywood market.

The Tyumen plant is at the cutting edge of woodworking and plywood manufacturing in Russia, producing 92,000 cubic metres of plywood a year. This figure looks set to grow to 120,000 cubic metres after the deal. The plant’s clients span the construction, machinery, aircraft and shipbuilding sectors in 35 countries.

SVEZA, a Russian company belonging to Alexey Mordashov’s Severgroup, is a global leader on the birch plywood market. Its products are trusted by consumers in 70 countries on five continents. SVEZA is supplier No. 1 for cast-in-place concrete construction in Russia, producing 1.3 million cubic metres of high-quality plywood and particle board a year.
