15.09.2015

Ian Ivory, Partner, Corporate/M&A of Goltsblat BLP, the Russian practice of the international law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP), is joining BLP Asia team as Head of Corporate for Asia

Ian has been with the firm for over 17 years, 11 years in our London office (where he ran the Private Equity & Venture Capital Team) and then the last 6.5 years as Head of English law in our Moscow office. His relocation to Hong Kong is a significant step towards strengthening and further development of BLP Asia presence. This step will enable BLP / Goltsblat BLP team to take advantage of the burgeoning Russian interest toward the East and improve cooperation between our Russian and Asian operations.

Andrey Goltsblat, the Managing Partner of Goltsblat BLP, notes: "We believe that relocating Ian Ivory to Hong Kong will immediately enhance our Asia operation and ensure smoother communication between offices as Ian has good connections to our people in Moscow. He has a broad range of international corporate finance experience and expertise, working in emerging and high growth markets. He will also draw on his experience in Moscow to take advantage of the growing links between Russia and China and continue to build the reputation of our international capability. In this respect Ian will be continuing to support our Moscow office with English Law when needed"

BLP / Goltsblat BLP team is already well positioned to provide comprehensive legal support to Asian clients on, among other things, outbound investments, including into Russia / CIS or partnering with Russian corporates and banks, as well as international investors in entering Asian markets or doing business in the Region. Our cross-office China team provides clients with industry specific legal expertise, unique skills in handling complex international transactions and a deep understanding of local perspectives and issues, wherever it might be required – in China, South-East Asia or in Russia/CIS.
