World Cup 2018: Advertising and Marketing Restrictions


Legal update No 639

Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (Russia) LLP advises that the Russia World Cup 2018 FIFA Law1 and other legal acts set a number of advertising and marketing restrictions that might affect any company.

The following key marketing restrictions are currently in effect:

1. No use of FIFA Official Marks without FIFA consent;

2. No ambush marketing (creating a false association with FIFA or World Cup 2018);

3. Trade venue restrictions;

4. Advertising ban at certain locations;

5. Licences required for certain public viewing events;

6. Ticketing restrictions.
